Services
From design through to installation, Architectural Products aim is to work closely with architects to offer a full design service at the early stages of a project in the belief that we can assist with the design of steelwork and other structural supports, giving advice on glazing bar types and their span capabilities along with the appropriate choice of infill.
We have the latest CAD technology enabling us to provide flexible design solutions over a vast range of applications covering most building types and situations that can be delivered via email.
Patent glazing was the pioneer of drained and ventilated glazing.
Introduced over 100 years ago its major advantage being its opportunity to provide the customer with the unobstructed admission of natural light into a building.
This together with its lightness, ease of maintenance and cost effectiveness has made patent glazing the universal choice for sloping glazing or roof glazing.
Development over the years has resulted in a product of simplicity and proven reliability.
The reliability of patent glazing is a fundamental feature determined by its method of construction that follows well established design principles.
The APV range of roof ventilator can be glazed into roof glazing and sloping curtain wall.
This system is thermally broken and can be glazed into or with, almost unlimited thickness of double glazed units.
We have glazed these vents into our system up to a size of 1000mm wide x 2000mm deep.
These vents can be structurally glazed and used as openable flat top rooflight/ access hatches, they can also be used as walk on vents.
With a variety of chain openers, rack actuators and even gas struts these vents are practical.
Utilising any one of our glazing bar ranges Architectural Products can manufacture bespoke self- supporting glazed roof structures to whatever style, size or pitch you require.
Pyramids, rectangles, hexagons and polygons are fully manufactured in our workshop prior to despatch to site to ensure that there are no problems thus reducing installation time on site.
All our self-supporting structures are designed in accordance with the requirements of BS5516 1991 and require no additional supporting structure other than that of the structural upstand curb to which the rooflight sits, this must be capable of withstanding the relevant imposed self weight, wind and snow loads without any spread or movement.
Our rooflights have been tested for non fragility using a large body impact test based on BSEN1873:2005 on a glazed roof assembly.
The tests assessed the resistance to impact by a large soft, heavy body such as maybe experienced when people fall onto a roof surface.
All of the tests were performed with the details described in the report with the middle of the assembly raised so that the rooflight had pitches of 10 degrees on one side and 15 degrees on the other.
The aluminium box section support rails and the centre steel support were fixed to un-braced sigma section multi-beam metal purlins.
