Arts Architecture International
Architecture is all too often seen as an isolated, elitist art-form that often values style over content. ArtsArchitecture places architecture within a continuum of visual and performing arts. We seek to create buildings and spaces in which both the arts and everyday life can flourish, complementing the art-forms and the people they house.
Services
ArtsArchitecture is a design and consultancy practice specialising in arts and cultural buildings as well as one-off houses and smaller-scale residential and commercial projects.
Unlike most traditional architects or designers, we also provide consultancy services for feasibility studies, project development and brief-writing for museums, galleries, performance spaces and other public buildings and arts venues.
ArtsArchitecture is both a traditional practice and a wider fellowship of individuals with specific talents and skills.
Our architectural team is based in Maidstone, Kent, 50 minutes by train from Central London.
In addition to our permanent team, we are able to draw on the resources of a number of other architectural design practices when required, allowing us to keep our overheads low and our fees competitive.
Complementing our design staff, our consultancy team enables us to offer a wider service for arts and cultural projects.
We see Architecture and Interior Design as part of a continuum rather than as separate disciplines.
Our Director, David Wright, has many years' experience developing interiors for public building projects and has designed shop fittings, bars and cafes as well as bespoke light fittings, carpets and furniture.
Our approach to Museum Exhibition Design sees the fit-out as 'Interior Architecture', not merely as a series of displays.
We work with specialist AV, graphic and lighting designers to produce a complete environment for the visitor.
We can also provide Consultancy Services for clients who need specialist advice, either as a stand-alone commission or as part of a larger capital project.
We are used to working as part of a broad-based team and welcome the opportunity to be involved in the development of capital projects from the initial stages.
For museums and arts buildings we are able to call upon a number of expert consultants to provide a wide range of consulancy advice above and beyond the architectural remit.
Listening is at the core of our approach.
We come to every project with an open mind and believe that good design arises from a thorough understanding of the needs and aspirations of the user client.
Our job is to help them to visualise their needs and express their ideas, and to give them concrete form through a careful balance of innovation and practicality.
That is why we like to be involved in projects from the early stages, helping develop the brief and preparing options studies before developing appropriate aesthetic solutions.
