Services
I have provided architectural services to more than 300 clients over the past 14 years.
I have a degree in architecture, a masters in urban design and over 40 years' experience in building, including property acquisitions and development, maintenance and repairs, and the conservation and restoration of traditional timber-framed buildings.
I am a member of the AECB, (the Association of Environmentally Conscious Building) and the Passivhaus Trust and an Associate of the Green Building Partnership, Brighton.
Architectural services to fit your building project and your budget, ranging from an hour's consultation on a specific building or design matter, to submitting planning permission and building regulations applications, to tendering the building work or providing full architectural services.
Converting your loft is one of the most cost effective and space efficient improvements you could carryout to your home.
You convert space you own and the basic structure is already there.
I have extensive.
Modern lifestyles demand more flexible and integrated spaces that can accommodate cooking, eating, entertaining and family living.
Converting your basement is one way in which you can make good use of unused space that already exists within your home.
Through creative and efficient design I can help you extend your living space into your basement.
In developing proposals for your basement I will create space that works for you, that maximises light and ventilation and that feels part of your home.
An unused basement could add one or more rooms to your property, or you might even have enough space to create a separate basement flat.
All extensions, conversions and structural alterations to your home will require building regulations approval.
Building regulations also covers work such as gas heating, electrical installations and the replacement windows & glazing.
These areas of work are usually dealt with under the competent person's scheme, which eliminates the need for a specific Building regulations application.
Building regulations are the minimum standards of design, construction and safety that must be achieved when building an extension, converting part of your property or carrying out alterations.
Good knowledge of the Local Authority's planning and conservation policies & guidelines are key to extending or altering your home if it is located in a conservation area or in a National Park.
I have extensive knowledge and wide experience of working on properties in conservation areas and can provide you with architectural designs that meet the Local Authority's requirements.
In designing for building in conservation areas I will work with you to achieve your wishes whilst balancing this with the Local Authority requirements to retain the important historic features of your home.
