Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects is an award winning, family practice of Chartered Architects and Interior Designers passionate about historic buildings and the stories they tell. We have dedicated our studio to working with old and listed buildings and have Accreditation in Building Conservation. Our projects vary in type from: Country Houses to: Town Houses, Cottages, Barn Conversions, Manor Houses, Hotels, Schools and Churches to name a few!

We specialise in high quality conversions, extensions and adaptations to historic buildings of all shapes and sizes. KPT work on projects in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire. Sibyl Thomas is an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC) and our close-knit, friendly team of Designers are all extremely experienced & qualified in historic buildings.

We are familiar with many of the Conservation Officers and Planners in these areas and have a select, high-quality list of local Craftsmen & Builders to ensure your building is finished to a superb standard.

Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects is a family Architectural & Interior Design Practice, established in 1985 by Kay and now run by her Daughter Sibyl.
We love designing and building onto historic buildings, converting barns new and old and creating bespoke one-off new-build houses.
We have an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, tight-knit team of Designers, who have been carefully selected for their knowledge in historic buildings or bespoke new-builds.
We enjoy a fun close working relationship to understanding how you are using and how you would like to use your buildings.
Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects are a close-knit, friendly team of very experienced RIBA Architects, Architectural Designers and BIID Interior Designers, who all specialise in the conservation, adaptation and extension to historic buildings.
The practice was established by Architect Kay Pilsbury from our 17th Century barn studio in Radwinter in 1985, to focus on alterations & repairs to old buildings.
In 2007 her daughter and Architect, Sibyl Thomas, also became a Director and now runs the practice, with Kay still working on our many Church projects.

We have dedicated the last 30 years to working on listed and old properties, with professional experience in historic building construction of all periods, listed building consents, building regulations, construction drawings, specifications and site administration.
We are a family firm with over 25 years of experience.
The practice is run by Kay Pilsbury and her daughter Sibyl with a friendly expert team of specialist designers and Architects.
Most of our clients come to us because they require an amiable Architect with a sound knowledge of old buildings, their history and construction.
Our job is to help take you through the planning and listed building process by drawing up quality designs that answer your brief and are viable.
Once planning is achieved we specialise in the production of bespoke, sound, detailed construction drawings using a combination of traditional and modern materials which ensure the works are built to a very high standard.
