Tom Crooks Architecture
At Tom Crooks Architecture Ltd we aim to create beauty through design; taking what already exists in our landscape, historic buildings, and communities, to shape the future of our built environment with the production of beautiful, practical, and sustainable spaces. Appointing an Architect is a big decision and it is important that you get it right so you feel confident about the professionals you work with.

An Architect can offer great value to a project - no matter what size or budget - and at Tom Crooks Architecture we offer a full architectural service from conception through to completion. We can assist with coordination of the project and advise on space, scale, lighting (natural and artificial), energy efficiency, decoration, cost, programme, planning & legal aspects, appointing other consultants and generally getting the best out of your project.

By involving an Architect early on, you can ensure that you get the design you want, whilst keeping control of time, cost and quality, and avoid needing to learn the complexities of the planning system, the Building Regulations or managing Party Wall issues.
Services
Tom Crooks is a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Chartered Architect and an AABC (Architects Accredited in Building Conservation - the foremost conservation accreditation body in the UK).
Tom has over ten years' experience working in social and conservational architecture.
Having trained at the University of Sheffield School of Architecture, he developed a keen interest for both the physical and the social aspects of Architecture and this interest continues to inspire and greatly influence our designs.
Architecture is not just about creating functional buildings, it is also about injecting character and charm into the every day.
Our unique approach brings buildings to life, truly honouring what they represent.
This Grade 1 listed church, in Derbyshire was subject to inefficient and insufficient lighting, poor heating, and limited access around the Church for wheelchairs and the infirm, as well as an inflexible seating system.
The primary driving factor for the church improvements was the poor heating.
We embrace a wide spectrum of project types, from conservational and ecclesiastical to commercial and residential.
Our team even designs individual pieces of furniture and stained glass.
We specialise in the conservation of historic buildings - including specialist reports and surveys, repairs and on-going maintenance, alterations and extensions - and in applying for and managing grant applications from bodies such as the Heritage Lottery Fund.
We undertake domestic and residential projects of any size - from extensions, alterations and repairs, to new-builds.
At Tom Crooks Architecture we have won several awards for our conservation work, including the Derby Diocese' Bishop's Award for the Church Improvements Project at St. Michael & All Angels Church, Hathersage.
The project was recognised by the Diocese for its commitment to the community.
The project saw the complete renewal of the heating, lighting and audio within the church, including the lowering of the raised pew platforms and removal of the side-aisle pews, to provide flexible, level access spaces within the church, for wider community use.
