Space Program Architecture & Design
As Space Program, we create residential architecture and Scandi-style plywood furniture. Our architectural designs - for new builds, side returns and extensions - create light and space. While our plywood furniture modernises any room and solves storage issues. If you're looking for design - be it architecture, furniture or both - we look forward to speaking with you.
Services
After graduating architecture at Oxford Brookes University, Patrick qualified as an Architect at the Architectural Association in London.
Before starting Space Program, Patrick worked for BGS Architects on projects for several Oxford Colleges, including the multi-award winning Shulman Auditorium project at The Queen's College.
He founded Space Program in 2012 with an ambition to create interesting and inspiring homes.
As Director, he brings extensive architectural design experience along with sound planning and listed building expertise.
We offer a full range of architectural services from design development through to planning applications, construction advice and site inspections.
We are flexible in our approach, prioritising client needs and working collaboratively to deliver the best results.
The following stages are based on the RIBA Plan of Works.
This stage is about meeting and establishing whether we are a good fit for you and your project.
To start the process, we offer a free site meeting.
Discuss survey options to accurately measure your property (this will be used at each stage of your project).
A part of their 'Extensions 2017 Special Issue', the article showcased one of our modern side returns in Oxford.
Art exhibition, Shed Space featured at Arts at the Old Fire Station in Central Oxford in Summer 2016.
A full-size garden shed, with a living roof, was built in the gallery.
An elaborate garden scale model, complete with miniature sheds designs, was built inside.
Collaboration is key to our creative approach.
We worked with art and architecture students from Oxford Brookes University to develop the whimsical model sheds, and ran a planting workshop with Crisis clients for the green roof.
13% of products delivered to construction sites are sent directly to landfill without being used.
Construction is not 'sustainable', however, as architects we do our bit to reduce the environmental impact of our work.
We do this through appropriate and efficient design (bigger is not always better).
Where possible we specify sustainable building materials, such as timber construction, high insulation, double or triple glazed windows, and alternative energy sources (photovoltaic roof panels).
We thereby aim to create high quality buildings fit for a long and useful life.
Over the past 7 years, our architectural work has helped many people improve their homes and how they live in them.
Throughout this process, we have experienced firsthand the importance of maximising usable space, including creating clever storage solutions.
Our made-to-measure plywood furniture embodies this design knowledge.
Developed to fit into an alcove, its modern appearance reflects our architectural rigor and sensibilities.
