Services
The Association of Consultant Architects (ACA) is the national professional body representing architects in private practice - consultant architects - in the UK.
The ACA is not a regulatory body, but provides an independent voice for and support to architectural practices that promotes and enables high standards in practice, within the membership.
Membership is free and open to registered architects practicing on their own either alone or in partnership or as a Director of a company whose business consists wholly or mainly of an Architects' practice or an allied field.
The ACA is an associate member of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and as a result, is actively involved in Government consultations on matters relating to important issues affecting the building industry as a whole, with particular reference to the practice of architecture.
The ACA is proud to work closely with the CIOB and London Build to help deliver CPD and industry relevant topics to architects and the construction industry at large.
The ACA is governed by a Council to ensure the activities of the ACA are in line with its mission and constitution.
The principle purpose of the ACA is to represent and support architects in their resolve to provide excellence in practice.
Membership of the ACA is free and open to practices run by registered architects within the UK.
Principals of member practices become full voting members of the ACA.
All personnel within a member practice have access to ACA events and services at members' discounted rates.
Current member practices range from sole practitioners to multidisciplinary firms.
Associate (non-voting) Membership of the ACA is open to registered architects who are employed by practices whose principals are not ACA members.
The ACA publishes its own contracts and is proud to work in partnership with Kings College London, in the development and promotion of collaborative and partnering contracts.
The page below provides further information on these contracts, as well as detail on all types of contracts available through the ACA.
The ACA has launched its electronic contracts portal.
Eventually all contract documents produced by the ACA will be available to purchase as electronic PDF's from this site.
We recommend you have a paper copy of the relevant Guide to your contract as well as a copy of the Pricing Guide, both of which will provide information to help you complete the contracts.
ACA members are able to promote their own practices and services within our directory; this allows people who are looking for an architect to search for the right practice for their project.
If you would like to view the details of a practice that you already know, you can directly search the directory by entering the practice name.
If you are looking for a possible practice to work with, in the first instance you can search the directory using keywords to generate a shortlist of practices likely to offer the services you require.
