An initial assessment of whether your project is feasible and what the best design solution to achieve your aim would be. This study considers factors such as construction cost, use and access. Assessed and approved by Local Authorities who control the type, size and location of development. We can prepare all necessary drawings and documents for a variety of applications whilst also negotiating with the Local Authority.

This is required for Listed Buildings where any building work is taking place. We can prepare all the required drawings and details for a Listed Building application, whilst liaising with the Local Authority Conservation Officer on your behalf. Controlled by Local Authority Building Control Departments and checked for compliance against Approved Documents, this stage assesses the technical side of a design looking at all aspects of a project from wall and roof construction to drainage layouts.

Used to obtain competitive estimates from contractors, we will produce and distribute the relevant documents and drawings for Tender including Technical Drawings, Sketches and Specification.
Services
James Fox Architect is a small RIBA Chartered Practice located in Yeovil, Somerset and established in 1965.
We work predominantly across Somerset & Dorset and have built up a strong working relationship with the local authorities in these regions.
We are however able and willing to travel further afield.
We pride ourselves on producing quality architecture which responds to and enhances its surroundings through excellent attention to detail and years of architectural experience since 1965.
Natural materials were used throughout which helps to blend the structure in to the lovely environment.
These two contemporary new builds were designed for a local Builder Developer.
Located on the edge of a local Somerset village the site comprised two dilapidated and poorly designed bungalows when purchased.
Due to the fantastic countryside views and unique location of the site we decided to go for a contemporary design.
The design we achieved uses large expanses of glass to the south west side to maximise views and natural daylighting.
