Arttus Period Interiors
Arttus specialises in traditional period joinery and period Interiors from concept to completion. We design and produce all types of architectural joinery including oak panelling, panelled rooms, staircases, libraries, fire mantels and furniture with authentic detailing and hand carved decoration from the 16th, 17th and 18th Century periods. Recreating British and English interior woodwork of the Gothic, Tudor, Georgian and Arts and crafts styles.

At the heart of Arttus is a love for working with wood and a passion for good design. Hand carving is unique and is one of the few traditional joinery methods that cannot be replaced by machine, it ensures the hand of the maker on the finished piece. We combine an in depth knowledge of classical and vernacular architecture with a flair for individual design using traditional joinery methods and skills to produce stunning rooms and unique pieces of furniture.

Whilst our roots and inspirations are with period architectural joinery, our design process is always led by the needs of each specific project and their surroundings, creating rooms and furnishings that are beautiful, functional, unique and ultimately enjoyed.
Services
Founder Ken Peterkin has worked in the period design industry for over 25 years, he created Arttus to develop his personal and unique style.
Those who have worked with Ken will know the special emphasis he places on the importance of a close working relationship with the client throughout the project.
Inspiration is drawn from a passion for historic detailing that he has gained through his extensive experience of working on historic buildings.
The philosophy of Arttus is to offer all our clients a complete period interior design package including panelled rooms, libraries, staircases, bespoke furniture and lighting and fabrics.
We create hand made traditional 16th, 17th and 18th century style staircases constructed in solid oak using traditional pegged joints.
We draw our design inspiration from the period detailing and styles of Gothic, Tudor and Georgian periods.
A staircase is often a main feature of a home, whether it's the visual spectacle of a grand entrance or the beauty of a simple oak staircase, the size, scale and design of the house needs to be considered.
As with all of our work, it is hand made and when installed, it will look like it is part of the original house.
Our oak panelling ranges from full height panelled rooms to low level dado style oak or painted wall panelling suitable for period properties and listed buildings.
Panels can be raised and fielded or flat with hand carved decoration.
Our hallmark is creating authentic replicas of traditional 16th, 17th, 18th century style panel mouldings.
Inspiration is taken from the oak panelled rooms of grand town and country houses of the early Tudor to the later Georgian periods.
Whether it's a whole full height 18th century style panelled room, low level wall panels, a decorative panelled roof lantern or a 17th century hand carved fire surround, we understand that adding these architectural detail to your house is a very personal process, everything we do is with a considered approach, using traditional wood work and joinery methods.
All of our period oak doors and tradtional oak windows are made and designed to order.
We produce a range of authentic solid oak doors, from simple 16th, 17th century style planked oak styles to the more involved 18th century style highly carved panelled doors.
We also supply door surrounds; architraves, liners, and door frames.
Our oak doors and windows can be found in London town houses, modern apartments and historic country houses.
Our oak doors are all beautifully hand made using traditional construction methods, suitable for listed properties and modern homes.
We produce beautiful tailor made cabinetry designed for its individual use whether that is incorporating wine coolers for a wine cellar, a hidden door in a panelled library or a bespoke storage solution for a dressing room.
We are commissioned by private clients, architects and interior designers, seeking the finest quality architectural joinery and cabinetry.
All of our fitted furniture is inspired by 16th, 17th, 18th century styles using hand carved mouldings and detailing from these periods.
