Feilden Fowles is a dynamic and engaged architecture practice, proud to be working on a diverse range of commissions for ambitious clients. Our work within the culture, education, commercial, heritage and masterplanning sectors has allowed us to develop a reputation for delivering exemplary social and environmental projects, often in highly sensitive and challenging historic contexts.

We value simple, high-quality materials. Our love of craft and desire to deliver our designs as fully constructed buildings, are the practice's founding principles, and they continue to inform our approach today. We are committed to protecting our natural environment, and mindful of our potential as individuals, as a team and within our industry to shape the future for the better.

We believe architecture can be rich in character and distinct in identity while responsibly addressing both social and environmental concerns. Our team, clients and projects have received numerous accolades and prestigious industry awards, and our work is widely published in national and international press.
Services
We value education and see the practice of architecture as an opportunity to enhance both our own understanding of the built environment, learning from our clients and collaborators, but also to share our knowledge with those we work for and with.
The practice is young and energetic with an intellectual studio culture; strong on dialogue and testing ideas.
Experts from outside the practice are regularly invited to collaborate and critique our work, ensuring projects are rigorously interrogated and that concepts follow through into detailed design with precision and subtlety.
Fergus Feilden and Edmund Fowles founded the practice in 2009 following their first project, Ty Pren, a passive long-house in the Brecon Beacons.
Today Feilden Fowles deliver a range of buildings across the UK, producing architecture that is rich in character and distinct in identity.
Our approach is both academic and hands-on; we enthusiastically engage in contextual research while exploring materiality and craft through large-scale prototypes and models.
We investigate historic and vernacular precedents to inform our response in the present day.
As a close-knit practice we are able to foster our creative and interactive studio culture through recognition of each individual's strengths and talents to curate a balanced skill set across the whole studio.
We enjoy working collaboratively and pride ourselves on our shared ethos, ambitions and values.
Fergus is passionate about leading project teams to create aspirational shared visions, and to deliver complex and challenging projects particularly on sensitive sites.
He is currently working with high profile clients across the country including the National Trust, TfL, the Science Museum Group, Carlisle Cathedral and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
We are proud to serve many leading clients with whom we develop close working relationships.
We take pride in understanding complex briefs, and to appreciate what makes each site and programme unique.
We seek to unlock the full potential of each project, alongside our valued collaborators for optimum outcomes.
Our practice has won many prestigious awards including BD's Young Architect of the Year 2016, AIA UK Young Architects of the Year 2015, as well as being named one of the AJ 40 Under 40 practices in 2020.
Our projects have received numerous RIBA, Civic Trust and RICS awards among others, with The Weston being shortlisted for the 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize.
A selected list with the associated projects can be found below.
These demonstrate our commitment to excellence and ability to deliver the highest quality buildings and services to clients.
